The Women's Connection

Connecting Women to God and to Each Other

Our Purpose

The Women’s Ministry at Denman Ave Baptist Church exists to glorify God by reaching women with the Gospel of Christ, teaching them to walk in His truth, and to share His love with others .

As you scroll down on this page you'll find a few new things!

Make sure you check out the new session topic of The Gathering!

Also I wanted to take just a little bit of space to share with you my heart!  I'm super excited about this new role as interim Women's Director!  You'll find just a few words from me at the bottom of this page.

What's happening now?

Our current topic of study at The Gathering:

Ingredients of the Faith
This is a 6 week study on the cooking ingredients we find in scripture and how God applies them to our walk of faith with Him.

We will not only be studying how we are to apply these ingredients to our spiritual life - but we will enjoy tasting them!

Each week we will eat something that has the specific ingredient of study in it! Yum!

Don't miss this great time of fellowship and study!  We have a place for you!

My name is Penny Franklin and I am so very honored to be a part of such a loving and caring church!  I know that God sends people our way or sends us to specific places for a great purpose.
I truly believe God has brought me to Lufkin with a very specific assignment in mind.  And that is to continuing share with as many as I can how the Lord can truly transform your every day life!

I know many of you have a few questions about me - so I thought I would use this space here to answer a few of them for you.

Who is Penny?
I know many of you know who I once was... but many of you may be wondering who I've turned out to be 30 years later.  Yes, that little snaggle tooth girl who was here every time the doors were open has finally grown up.

I graduated from SFA with a chemistry degree and worked for many years as a chemist.  I know what it means to try to live my life for me - trying desperately to be in control of life all by myself.

I'm so glad God didn't give up on me!  It was at the end of one of those very short ropes that I realized I needed to go back to the place where God changed my life - much like Jacob did with Bethel.

I enrolled at Southwestern Baptist Seminary and found my passion!  Serving the Lord in every way He would let me.  I soon met John Franklin and we planted many churches together in both Texas and Louisiana.  What an adventure!

I know all of the experiences that we shared has made me into the woman of God I am today.  I look forward to continuing in this adventure He has called me to here at Denman Avenue Baptist Church.

In addition to my roles here at DABC, I'm a science teacher at Lufkin High School.  I have 2 adorable children - daughter, Jordan (7) and son, JP (5).  They truly are my front line of ministry.

What can you expect from me?
What is my heart concerning Women's Ministry?
What a loaded question!  I love staying connected with women of all ages.  If I don't know you - I'm likely to walk up to you and introduce myself.

I LOVE technology!  Here are just a few ways you can find me:
Cell phone: 936-404-2307
I'm also on Facebook & Twitter!

But my absolute favorite is to just sit face-to-face with a sister in the faith and chat (in person)!
So if you like, you can find me up at the church on Sunday afternoons around 3pm-4:30pm.

My heart?
No I didn't forget to share this with you.  If I could use one word to describe myself it would be:  REDEEMED!
I know who I once was, and I see where God has brought me and the experiences He has let me live through.  There's only one word.  He has redeemed my very soul.  In this redemption, He has revived what was once dead.  Me!

It is my life goal to share with as many women, children, and teens, how God's Word is alive and so very necessary for every breath we take.  I truly have a passion for reading my Bible!  It's an addiction I find hard to describe, yet will not give up trying!  After God's Word, I would say next in line would be mentorship.  I was mentored by a very caring lady and attribute my love for God's Word to her guidance.

I too, want to pass on this kind investment into the lives of others.  John always used to ask those around him, "So, what's God doing in your life?"  I want to make this question a part of my investment in those around me.  I want others to catch on to the fact that He can and wants to always be "doing something" in your life!

“That you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.” Colossians 1:10
